The Speech President Biden Should Make

The Speech President Biden Should Make

Like most of you, I have been looking at the recent election results and giving them some serious thought. I noted the voting trends and the underlying forces that drive those trends.
One thing that sticks out is that we have a couple of newly emerging forces in the electorate, and they will only grow stronger with time. They will shape the future.
One of those forces is Women Voters. You may say that Women have been voting for a century.
But now Women are voting with great purpose. The attacks on their personal freedom has given them focus, a cause. They not only are demanding their rights and that everyone respect those rights, they want to clean up the old politics that played games with their rights. They want a New Politics that respects their rights, their intelligence and their future.
The other group is Young Voters.
The Young Voters do not vote in great numbers, at least not now, but those that do vote have decidedly shifted their focus. Their main concern is the future, and that means they are looking at environmental and climate issues and are demanding action. That is not to say they are not concerned about our society and how they can shape a better world. But they know that if we don’t change our ways of production and consumption, there won’t be anything left of society. They are demanding Progress.
To sum it up, what I am seeing among these two groups and those that are similarly motivated, is a demand for ‘Freedom, Equality, and Progress.’
These forces want, even, demand, a positive approach to politics with an end to negative campaigning and attack ads.
They want substantive policy and program proposals that can be negotiated with reasonable, differing proposals  to create workable solutions to the problems and challenges we all face.
These forces want Freedom and Equality for everyone, not just a select few, and not at the expense of someone else’s Freedom and Equality.

I ask the people quit paying attention to the conspiracy theories, almost all of which do not stand up to a logical or fact-based inquiry. These negative thoughts are distracting us from accomplishing the American dream - making a better world.
All of the above has led me to make a big decision.
I have decided not to run for re-election for President in 2024.
These new, vibrant forces of the future want a more dynamic figure, one not tied to the old politics.
Not that I don’t believe as they do, or don’t want to fight the good fight.
But America is about change and that must include new people to lead us into the future. This is not about age so much as it is about getting away from the old politics of division, suspicion, and fear and loathing.
I would urge other people in politics to consider making the same decision.

There is an old belief in American politics that no politician ever rules themselves out until they have lost the election because this decision makes them a ‘lame duck.’ And a Lame Duck supposedly loses all political leverage and political power.
    That’s the Old Politics.
By declaring myself out, I am now free to pursue my agenda and will not have to consider the political consequences, especially how it will affect my re-election chances.
I will be stronger than ever. We will get this country headed in the right direction while we pass the torch to the New Forces.
As for the obstructionists and naysayers - please get out of the way - we have a future to create, an American Dream to live.
In the meantime, I am still President Joe Biden.
    Let’s go!
