The people of Afghanistan are starving and sick. Their new Taliban rulers are incapable of taking care of them.
There are ongoing international humanitarian efforts to relieve the situation and the U.S. is becoming more active in the relief effort but we need a stronger program.
Americans are the people who can more effectively establish and execute a rescue plan providing food and medicine. Let us once again show our power and greatness. This is what we do best - helping others.
All people of faith should also demand rescue action, since every major religion has such a requirement.
Christianity, for instance, requires that the hungry be fed, the thirsty be given drink, and medicine be given to the sick (Matthew 25:35-36)
Let’s show the world how great America really is. We can do this.

 

 

 

The Can-Do Class of 2021

 The inspiring story of Robert Paylor overcoming paralysis and graduating from college (UC Berkeley) must be recognized and applauded.
But he should not be seen as a singular phenomenon.
Paylor is not the only person who beat the odds. He is representative of a new generation. The high school and college graduates of 2021 faced unprecedented difficulties to earn their degrees.
The new graduates should be known as the ‘Can-do Class.” They are a new age - call them ‘Generation A’ - the New Leaders.
They face many challenges - economics, pandemic disease, climate change, human strife.
Even so, the ‘Can-do Class’ will move to take charge and lead us to a better life.

A Deep State Conspiracy

If the Deep State (US) really wanted to eliminate adversaries such as Donald Trump and his followers…
The Deep State (US) would contact their counterparts in China and arrange for a pandemic virus to be let loose on the world. After the initial uncontrollable pandemic had spread, the first effective vaccines would be created and deployed.
At this point, the Deep State apparatchiks would employ their most effective weapons - the talking heads of conservative media. The Talking Heads (Useful Fools) would spread fear and doubt about the vaccines. In turn, the Trump followers would refuse the pandemic vaccine - and be sickened and die in untold numbers.
That is how it would be done, if there was a Deep State conspiracy.

Taking Out The Trash

It is time to face the facts.
Feminists won’t like to hear this but we all must accept the reality: Men are better at taking out the trash than women are.
This is not an absolute. No scientific studies that I know of. But my keen observation(s), looking at not only my own life but so many others - the vast majority of human adult males are better at taking out the trash than their female counterparts. My shrewd estimation is that 80-85% of males are better at trash-out-of-housing than females.
This is not to say it is genetic. No arguments about Nature vs. Nurture. This is simply how things are in our present society.
I asked my wife about this. She sighed, rolled her eyes, and said:
“Dear, for once you are right.”
I consider this to be a major concession and admission on her part. It is also a major intellectual victory for me on this particular subject (Trash).
Who knows where this will go?

Meaning of a Woman Rolling Her Eyes

 

A recent post online included the following line"

* Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.

Let me explain something to all of you -

When a woman has been speaking to a man and she is rolling her eyes

(even if she is walking away from him, you can tell) - the woman is

thinking "Oh, what did I ever do to be in the presence of such a

wonderful man."

Ignored Americans

Too many Americans, mostly on the lower end of the socioeconomic scale, feel ignored, which may be worse than being disrespected.
Beginning with the 26 counties in the U.S. that voted for Obama, then Trump, and then Biden, we should be reaching out to those people and asking them three questions:
What do you need/want?
What can the government (of any level) do for you?
What can you, your community, and the government do together?
After the initial survey, go to other areas, especially rural and urban ones, and continue asking the questions.
The answers should be studied by all government employees and politicians - and then action taken.

Asian Student Superiority?

I recently remarked that, of the list of 44 San Francisco Bay Area National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists, exactly 75% had Chinese, Indian, or Japanese last names. I then suggested that the U.S. approach people from those cultures and find out what they are doing right.
A retired schoolteacher replied that her experience was that in a Parent-Teacher Conference she might say, for instance, that the student was having some difficulty with Math. The Asian-heritage parents would respond that they would spend two hours a night working with the student until the student had mastered the subject.
A non-Asian parent, on the other hand, would say, “Oh, well, I wasn’t very good at Math either.”
America has a choice. We can dig in and regain our standing as world leaders or we can continue to sink into irrelevance.

Pres. Trump's Words and the Insurrection

Media reports show that those involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol are in two camps.
Some are ready to admit to their criminal behavior and will plead “guilty”. Others are still denying their criminal activity and are pleading “not guilty”.
There is one thing they have in common - their original motivation was to answer what they considered to be a ‘call-to-arms’ by then President Donald Trump.
Certain of the defense attorneys and some of the U.S. prosecuting attorneys should summon ex-President Trump to testify about his words and meaning that would have caused the insurrection.
The former President may choose to invoke the 5th Amendment, that is his right and privilege.
No matter what, ex-Pres. Trump must be held accountable for his words or he must disavow those words.

Partisan Tyranny and the Georgia Voting Law

The new Georgia Voting Law has drawn condemnation for its racism. But there are parts of the law that are of greater danger to American democracy.
Georgia Republicans, controlling the Governorship and the Legislature, have moved to impose complete political control of the electoral process. They have removed the Secretary of State, elected statewide, as Chair of the state election board and will place a political appointee in as Chair of the board with only one Democrat out of five members.
The Board will control the voting process, and also have the power to seize the voting systems of up to four counties. These will be Democratic-leaning counties.
The Republicans, aided by gerrymandering, have the whip hand in Georgia politics and will further increase their power through this electoral process manipulation.
If other States follow suit, the U.S. will have partisan tyranny in a majority of states.
Predictions are that within 20 years, 70% of the American people will live in 15 states. This means that 70 Senate seats will be controlled by States having only 30% of the population.
These 70 Senators will be loyal to the Republican Party, and not the Constitution.
American citizens and businesses must unite against any such voting laws.

Don't Steal My Vote

 On Jan. 6th, a political mob, at the behest of then-Pres. Trump, stormed the Capitol with the intent of forcing Congress to ignore the Electoral College vote.
The mob did not care how any American had voted, they were bent of imposing their will on all of us.
With the fervor and terror of Jan. 6 having abated, I have had time to reflect on what the mob,  its instigators and supporters tried to do to me.
Those people were acting to deny my citizen’s rights to vote and have my vote counted. They were making me a non-citizen.
This American, citizen and veteran will not put up with this.
I will not take physical action against those people.
But I will take names and remember. All those in the mob, in Congress, and the Administration - I will call you out as enemies of American freedom and our democracy, and as Traitors to the Constitution.
I will shun you and call upon your families and friends to disavow you and your politics.

Stop Purchasing from China

To cut back on American purchasing of goods from China, we need to have a movement that will convince Amazon, etc., put an extra specification when you ask to buy a product. Entirely voluntary, you would be allowed to specify that you didn't want any products from, for instance, China.
 If enough people did this, China's trade and economy would be hurt severely. Alternate sources of goods would have to be developed in a hurry, but that would occur at market rate.
The only problem would be where China controls certain key materials, such as Rare Earths.

What America Needs Right Now

Impeachment is one of the most important constitutional issues we face right now. but many members of Congress only addresses the issue with the cold calculus of holding power and getting re-elected.
We need two things in America right now.
We need to emphasize the teaching of Civics, particularly the Constitution and the Rule of Law.
And we need to self-impose a code of conduct throughout our political system - any statement made must be factual, logical and provable. We will refuse to accept slogans, code words, or meaningless symbols.
We must demand solid reasoning if we are to save our country.

Remove 'Deranged' Trump from office

Speaker of the House Pelosi says that President Trump is “deranged, unhinged, dangerous.” And then talks of impeachment.
But if the President is “deranged,”, then he should not be held responsible or culpable “by reason of insanity.”
At the same time, ‘deranged, unhinged, dangerous’ would definitely qualify as reasons for removal from office by way of Amendment XXV, Sec. 4.
Such removal should occur at once before this irrational President does more harm to our nation and our government.

The Scheme That Makes Your Vote Worthless

The Trump-Gohmert scheme to invalidate the Electoral College vote is completely the antithesis of how our election systems are to be run.
There is a great problem with their scheme. They are ignoring our voting preferences. No matter how you voted for President, you should be frustrated and angry. In effect, the Representatives and Senators that vote to ignore the electoral count are also saying that your vote does not matter at all. They have taken it upon themselves to decide who will be President.
This is a betrayal of America, its people and our Constitution.
But you should not react with violence or vandalism in word or deed. That would be getting down to their level.
For myself, i will note how these who have betrayed us have voted. When I meet one of them, I will point at them and make a “T” sign. “T” as in Traitor.
