Immigration and Discrimination

Among my many ancestry groups dating back to colonial America are the Scots-Irish and Germans. They overcame disrespect and discrimination to help build our great nation.

Later, Italians, Irish, Jewish, Eastern European immigrant groups, as well as so many others, came here, overcame bias and bigotry and added so much to our national heritage.

Now we have a President who makes racist remarks about immigrants who have black or brown skin.

Those of us whose ancestors were discriminated against must refute and repudiate these prejudiced remarks. If we don’t do so, we are dishonoring our forebears, and should be disowned by our heritage. We must forever remain silent in any discussion on national pride.
