Donor States Being Taxed More by Welfare States

A Rockefeller Institute of Government study (“New York’s Balance of Payments with the Federal Government”) showed thirteen states sent more money to Washington, D.C. than was received back. Of these 13 Donor States, nine voted for Clinton, four for Trump.
Of the remaining 37 Welfare states (receiving more money than sending), 11 voted for Clinton, 26 for Trump.
The proposed Republican tax reform plans would generally result in the Donor states contributing even more money to the Welfare states.
Since California is one of the Donor states, we should do something about this increased redistribution of wealth, which is to our economic detriment.
Every California Republican member of Congress should be asked how he or she will vote on the tax proposal reconciliation. If that Representative will not pledge to vote “No,” then Recall procedures should be begun, in order to stop the Welfare states from further plundering the Donor states.

What if Moore had done it to your family?

To President Trump and the male voters of Alabama:
If Roy Moore had done to your wife, your sister, or your daughter(s) what Moore apparently has done to so many other young girls, would you still support him? Would you still vote for him?

Donor and Welfare States and Tax Reform

A Rockefeller Institute of Government study (“New York’s Balance of Payments with the Federal Government”) showed thirteen states sent more money to Washington, D.C. than was received back. Of these 13 Donor States, nine voted for Clinton, four for Trump.
Of the remaining 37 Welfare states (receiving more money than sending), 11 voted for Clinton, 26 for Trump.

The issue should be introduced in the halls of Congress.
Is there a conflict of interest in Welfare states’ representatives voting to take even more wealth for their constituents?
Even if it is determined that there is no conflict of interest as defined by law, there is still very much an issue of a violation of ethical standards.

For Those Pushing for Military Action

Two questions should be asked of every person, especially politicians, who promote or support military action (such as against North Korea or Iran).

1.     Are you a Veteran?
2.     Who in your immediate family is presently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces?

Those who have never risked anything for this country should not be pushing to have other Americans get killed or injured.

NFL Protests

If the League Office prohibits any form of protest during the National Anthem, then those players who want to show their concern  for social justice should do so by kneeling
(for 5 seconds?) immediately after the anthem is finished.
If anyone questions this, the kneeling is a sign of prayer for social justice.
Later, when asked questions for in-game or post-game interviews, players should reply,
"President Trump has not told Owner (Joe Schmoe) what I am allowed to say."

The Militia and the Second Amendment

The Second Amendment is about the collective right of the people “to keep and bear Arms.” It is not about the individual’s right to do so.
This right is in order to maintain the “security of a free State.” This is to be done through a “well regulated Militia,” trained and organized, and excluding the village idiot and the town drunk.
Considering the existential threats emanating from East Asia, the cities and counties on the West Coast should each have an authorized, organized militia, for protection in time of war or other disaster.
Those who want to bear arms will do so to protect their fellow citizens, not themselves.

Trump Will 'Totally Destroy' North Korea

September 19, 2017

Pres. Trump has stated that the United States would “totally destroy” North Korea if the US decided it had to defend itself.
That means that we would unilaterally decide to kill not just the leaders who were the threat, but 26 million men, women and children. We would flatten every structure, the land would lie fallow.
The only good that can come from this terrifying bombast is if it brings forth total condemnation from throughout the land. The first to speak up should be the religious leaders of every belief.

If Trump Pardons Arpaio

It has been noted that America’s greatest contribution to world civilization is the independent judiciary. The rule of law is pre-eminent.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona disobeyed a U. S. Court that had ordered him (Arpaio) to cease and desist in certain practices that were unfair and racially discriminatory.
The judge that had made the determination of discrimination and issued the order then found Arpaio guilty and in contempt of court.
Pres. Trump is considering pardoning Arpaio, a political supporter, for no valid reason. The pardon will have the effect of undermining the authority of all federal courts. The independent judiciary will be compromised by politics.
This action would amount to an attack on the independent judiciary, and would serve as one count of ‘high Crimes and Misdemeanors’, the standard for impeachment under the Constitution. One more equally serious offense and the impeachment process must begin.

North Korea, the U.S. and China

Everyone agrees that North Korea, with its nuclear weapons and missile systems, is a danger to world peace. They also agree that China is a key factor in resolving the North Korean problem. China is worried about a mass exodus from North Korea while also worried about other countries (e.g., the United States) becoming a material factor in resolving the problem.
The U.S. should use diplomatic backchannels to suggest to China that, if North Korea becomes destabilized, China should impose itself on North Korea.
The Chinese would treat North Korea as a protectorate with oversight by the United Nations. China would bring stability and new concepts of domestic and foreign policy. It would bring ‘market socialism’ to the North Korean economy so that they could eventually feed themselves and develop a more productive industrial economy. In time, North Koreans would grow to become an independent, self-governing responsible state.
